ۘ Signs of waqf (pauses)

Waqf (وقف, “stop”) signs tell the reciter where to pause for breath while intending to continue. They appear slightly smaller and raised above the line. Follow them to avoid changing the meaning. Where two signs appear one above the other, give preference to the one on top.

waqf tām — وقف تامّ — “Perfect stop” — the end of a verse. The meaning is complete; stop and take a breath before continuing. Shown by the verse circle.
مـ
waqf lāzim — وقف لازم — “Required stop” — it is absolutely necessary to stop; not stopping can change the meaning (like “Stand! not Sit!” vs “Stand not! Sit!”).
ط
waqf muṭlaq — وقف مطلق — “Absolute stop” — break the breath and voice before continuing. The sentence is not yet complete but more follows before the meaning finishes.
ج
waqf jāʾiz — وقف جائز — “Permissible stop” — better to stop here, but if you do not, that is fine.
ز
waqf mujawwaz — وقف مجوّز — It is better not to stop here.
ص
waqf murakhkhaṣ — وقف مرخّص — “Licensed pause” — continue reading; but if you are tired you may pause for a breath. More desirable to continue than at ز.
صلے
al-waṣl awlā — الوصل أولى — “Continuing is preferable” — it is better to carry on reciting here.
ق
qīla ʿalayhil-waqf — قيل عليه الوقف — It has been said that it is better not to stop here — the sign marks a difference of opinion on whether to stop.
قﻲ
qad yūṣal — قد يوصل — It is better to stop here, but continuing is permissible.
قف
qif — قِف — “Stop!” — used where the reciter might otherwise continue instead of stopping.
س
saktah — سكتة — “Silence” — stop reciting but do not break the breath before continuing. Obligatory in four places (Sūrah al-Kahf, Yāsīn, al-Qiyāmah and al-Muṭaffifīn).

waqfah — وقفة — Pause here longer than at a saktah, again without breaking the breath.
لا
— لا — “No!” — do not stop here, as it would affect the meaning. If it falls at a verse-end it is still better not to stop, but if you do the meaning is alright.
ك
kadhālik — كذلك — “Like that” — apply the previous waqf sign at this position as well.

muʿānaqah — معانقة — “Embracing stop” — triple dots appearing in pairs: stopping at the first forbids stopping at the second (and vice versa), or the meaning becomes incomplete. Stop at one or the other, not both.
— Marks a point where there is a difference of opinion as to whether it is the end of an āyah.
waqf an-nabī ﷺ — وقف النبي ﷺ — Indicates places where the Prophet ﷺ paused.
waqf ghufrān — وقف غفران — It is said that if the reciter and listener make duʿāʾ when pausing here, it will be answered.
waqf manzil — وقف منزل — Also waqf jibrāʾīl — where Jibrīl (peace be upon him) paused at the time of revelation.
۝ Punctuation marks in the Arabic text

Qurʾanic punctuation in the Arabic script uses several symbols indicating variations in methods of qirāʾah (recitation). These symbols, known as the ʿAlāmāt al-Waqf (signs for stops), are briefly described below.

Shows the end of a verse — a pause is a must.
مـ
Waqf Lāzim — The stop at which the word and meaning give a complete sense (a “complete stop”): the utterance is complete and separated from what follows.
ط
Waqf Jāʾiz, al-Waqf Awlā — May or may not stop, but the first preference is to stop. (The “sufficient stop”: stopping or continuing is permissible, yet stopping is preferable, since the phrase can stand by itself.)
ج
Waqf Jāʾiz — May or may not stop at the place indicated (no preference either way).
ز
It is better not to stop here.
Breaking the voice at a Qurʾanic word for a brief moment without taking a breath — at two counts (nearly two seconds).
صلے
Waqf Jāʾiz, al-Waṣl Awlā — May or may not stop at the place indicated, but the first preference is not to stop.

    طٰسٓمّٓ ۱

    Ta, Seen, Meem.

  2. 26:2

    تِلۡكَ اٰيٰتُ الۡكِتٰبِ الۡمُبِيۡنِ ۲

    These are the verses of the clear Book.

    لَعَلَّكَ بَاخِعٌ نَّـفۡسَكَ اَلَّا يَكُوۡنُوۡا مُؤۡمِنِيۡنَ ۳

    Perhaps, [O Muhammad], you would kill yourself with grief that they will not be believers.

    اِنۡ نَّشَاۡ نُنَزِّلۡ عَلَيۡهِمۡ مِّنَ السَّمَآءِ اٰيَةً فَظَلَّتۡ اَعۡنَاقُهُمۡ لَهَا خٰضِعِيۡنَ ۴

    If We willed, We could send down to them from the sky a sign for which their necks would remain humbled.

    وَمَا يَاۡتِيۡهِمۡ مِّنۡ ذِكۡرٍ مِّنَ الرَّحۡمٰنِ مُحۡدَثٍ اِلَّا كَانُوۡا عَنۡهُ مُعۡرِضِيۡنَ ۵

    And no revelation comes to them anew from the Most Merciful except that they turn away from it.

    For they have already denied, but there will come to them the news of that which they used to ridicule.

    اَوَلَمۡ يَرَوۡا اِلَى الۡاَرۡضِ كَمۡ اَنۡۢبَتۡنَا فِيۡهَا مِنۡ كُلِّ زَوۡجٍ كَرِيۡمٍ ۷

    Did they not look at the earth - how much We have produced therein from every noble kind?

    اِنَّ فِىۡ ذٰ لِكَ لَاٰيَةً ؕ وَّمَا كَانَ اَكۡثَرُهُمۡ مُّؤۡمِنِيۡنَ ۸

    Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.

    وَاِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ الۡعَزِيۡزُ الرَّحِيۡمُ ۹

    And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.

    وَاِذۡ نَادٰى رَبُّكَ مُوۡسٰۤى اَنِ ائۡتِ الۡقَوۡمَ الظّٰلِمِيۡنَۙ ۱۰

    And [mention] when your Lord called Moses, [saying], "Go to the wrongdoing people -

  11. 26:11

    قَوۡمَ فِرۡعَوۡنَؕ اَلَا يَتَّقُوۡنَ ۱۱

    The people of Pharaoh. Will they not fear Allah?"

  12. 26:12

    قَالَ رَبِّ اِنِّىۡۤ اَخَافُ اَنۡ يُّكَذِّبُوۡنِؕ ۱۲

    He said, "My Lord, indeed I fear that they will deny me

  13. 26:13

    وَيَضِيۡقُ صَدۡرِىۡ وَلَا يَنۡطَلِقُ لِسَانِىۡ فَاَرۡسِلۡ اِلٰى هٰرُوۡنَ ۱۳

    And that my breast will tighten and my tongue will not be fluent, so send for Aaron.

    وَلَهُمۡ عَلَىَّ ذَنۡۢبٌ فَاَخَافُ اَنۡ يَّقۡتُلُوۡنِۚ ۱۴

    And they have upon me a [claim due to] sin, so I fear that they will kill me."

    قَالَ كَلَّاۚ فَاذۡهَبَا بِاٰيٰتِنَآ اِنَّا مَعَكُمۡ مُّسۡتَمِعُوۡنَ ۱۵

    [Allah] said, "No. Go both of you with Our signs; indeed, We are with you, listening.

  16. 26:16

    فَاۡتِيَا فِرۡعَوۡنَ فَقُوۡلَاۤ اِنَّا رَسُوۡلُ رَبِّ الۡعٰلَمِيۡنَۙ ۱۶

    Go to Pharaoh and say, 'We are the messengers of the Lord of the worlds,

    اَنۡ اَرۡسِلۡ مَعَنَا بَنِىۡۤ اِسۡرَآءِيۡلَ ؕ ۱۷

    [Commanded to say], "Send with us the Children of Israel."'"

  18. 26:18

    قَالَ اَلَمۡ نُرَبِّكَ فِيۡنَا وَلِيۡدًا وَّلَبِثۡتَ فِيۡنَا مِنۡ عُمُرِكَ سِنِيۡنَۙ ۱۸

    [Pharaoh] said, "Did we not raise you among us as a child, and you remained among us for years of your life?

  19. 26:19

    وَفَعَلۡتَ فَعۡلَتَكَ الَّتِىۡ فَعَلۡتَ وَاَنۡتَ مِنَ الۡكٰفِرِيۡنَ ۱۹

    And [then] you did your deed which you did, and you were of the ungrateful."

    قَالَ فَعَلۡتُهَاۤ اِذًا وَّاَنَا مِنَ الضَّآلِّيۡنَؕ ۲۰

    [Moses] said, "I did it, then, while I was of those astray.

    فَفَرَرۡتُ مِنۡكُمۡ لَمَّا خِفۡتُكُمۡ فَوَهَبَ لِىۡ رَبِّىۡ حُكۡمًا وَّجَعَلَنِىۡ مِنَ الۡمُرۡسَلِيۡنَ ۲۱

    So I fled from you when I feared you. Then my Lord granted me wisdom and prophethood and appointed me [as one] of the messengers.

    وَتِلۡكَ نِعۡمَةٌ تَمُنُّهَا عَلَىَّ اَنۡ عَبَّدْتَّ بَنِىۡۤ اِسۡرَآءِيۡلَ ؕ ۲۲

    And is this a favor of which you remind me - that you have enslaved the Children of Israel?"

    قَالَ فِرۡعَوۡنُ وَمَا رَبُّ الۡعٰلَمِيۡنَؕ ۲۳

    Said Pharaoh, "And what is the Lord of the worlds?"

    قَالَ رَبُّ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالۡاَرۡضِ وَمَا بَيۡنَهُمَاؕ اِنۡ كُنۡتُمۡ مُّوۡقِنِيۡنَ ۲۴

    [Moses] said, "The Lord of the heavens and earth and that between them, if you should be convinced."

    قَالَ لِمَنۡ حَوۡلَهٗۤ اَلَا تَسۡتَمِعُوۡنَ ۲۵

    [Pharaoh] said to those around him, "Do you not hear?"

    قَالَ رَبُّكُمۡ وَرَبُّ اٰبَآٮِٕكُمُ الۡاَوَّلِيۡنَ ۲۶

    [Moses] said, "Your Lord and the Lord of your first forefathers."

    قَالَ اِنَّ رَسُوۡلَـكُمُ الَّذِىۡۤ اُرۡسِلَ اِلَيۡكُمۡ لَمَجۡنُوۡنٌ ۲۷

    [Pharaoh] said, "Indeed, your 'messenger' who has been sent to you is mad."

  28. 26:28

    قَالَ رَبُّ الۡمَشۡرِقِ وَالۡمَغۡرِبِ وَمَا بَيۡنَهُمَا ؕ اِنۡ كُنۡتُمۡ تَعۡقِلُوۡنَ ۲۸

    [Moses] said, "Lord of the east and the west and that between them, if you were to reason."

  29. 26:29

    قَالَ لَٮِٕنِ اتَّخَذۡتَ اِلٰهًا غَيۡرِىۡ لَاَجۡعَلَـنَّكَ مِنَ الۡمَسۡجُوۡنِيۡنَ ۲۹

    [Pharaoh] said, "If you take a god other than me, I will surely place you among those imprisoned."

    قَالَ اَوَلَوۡ جِئۡتُكَ بِشَىۡءٍ مُّبِيۡنٍۚ ۳۰

    [Moses] said, "Even if I brought you proof manifest?"

    قَالَ فَاۡتِ بِهٖۤ اِنۡ كُنۡتَ مِنَ الصّٰدِقِيۡنَ ۳۱

    [Pharaoh] said, "Then bring it, if you should be of the truthful."

    فَاَ لۡقٰى عَصَاهُ فَاِذَا هِىَ ثُعۡبَانٌ مُّبِيۡنٌۖۚ ۳۲

    So [Moses] threw his staff, and suddenly it was a serpent manifest.

    وَّنَزَعَ يَدَهٗ فَاِذَا هِىَ بَيۡضَآءُ لِلنّٰظِرِيۡنَ ۳۳

    And he drew out his hand; thereupon it was white for the observers.

    قَالَ لِلۡمَلَاِ حَوۡلَهٗۤ اِنَّ هٰذَا لَسٰحِرٌ عَلِيۡمٌۙ ۳۴

    [Pharaoh] said to the eminent ones around him, "Indeed, this is a learned magician.

    يُّرِيۡدُ اَنۡ يُّخۡرِجَكُمۡ مِّنۡ اَرۡضِكُمۡ بِسِحۡرِهٖۖ فَمَاذَا تَاۡمُرُوۡنَ ۳۵

    He wants to drive you out of your land by his magic, so what do you advise?"

  36. 26:36

    قَالُوۡۤا اَرۡجِهۡ وَاَخَاهُ وَابۡعَثۡ فِى الۡمَدَآٮِٕنِ حٰشِرِيۡنَۙ ۳۶

    They said, "Postpone [the matter of] him and his brother and send among the cities gatherers

    يَاۡتُوۡكَ بِكُلِّ سَحَّارٍ عَلِيۡمٍ ۳۷

    Who will bring you every learned, skilled magician."

  38. 26:38

    فَجُمِعَ السَّحَرَةُ لِمِيۡقَاتِ يَوۡمٍ مَّعۡلُوۡمٍۙ ۳۸

    So the magicians were assembled for the appointment of a well-known day.

    وَّقِيۡلَ لِلنَّاسِ هَلۡ اَنۡـتُمۡ مُّجۡتَمِعُوۡنَۙ ۳۹

    And it was said to the people, "Will you congregate

    لَعَلَّنَا نَـتَّبِعُ السَّحَرَةَ اِنۡ كَانُوۡا هُمُ الۡغٰلِبِيۡنَ ۴۰

    That we might follow the magicians if they are the predominant?"

  41. 26:41

    فَلَمَّا جَآءَ السَّحَرَةُ قَالُوۡا لِفِرۡعَوۡنَ اَٮِٕنَّ لَـنَا لَاَجۡرًا اِنۡ كُنَّا نَحۡنُ الۡغٰلِبِيۡنَ ۴۱

    And when the magicians arrived, they said to Pharaoh, "Is there indeed for us a reward if we are the predominant?"

  42. 26:42

    قَالَ نَعَمۡ وَاِنَّكُمۡ اِذًا لَّمِنَ الۡمُقَرَّبِيۡنَ ۴۲

    He said, "Yes, and indeed, you will then be of those near [to me]."

    قَالَ لَهُمۡ مُّوۡسٰۤى اَلۡقُوۡا مَاۤ اَنۡتُمۡ مُّلۡقُوۡنَ ۴۳

    Moses said to them, "Throw whatever you will throw."

  44. 26:44

    فَاَلۡقَوۡا حِبَالَهُمۡ وَعِصِيَّهُمۡ وَقَالُوۡا بِعِزَّةِ فِرۡعَوۡنَ اِنَّا لَـنَحۡنُ الۡغٰلِبُوۡنَ ۴۴

    So they threw their ropes and their staffs and said, "By the might of Pharaoh, indeed it is we who are predominant."

    فَاَ لۡقٰى مُوۡسٰى عَصَاهُ فَاِذَا هِىَ تَلۡقَفُ مَا يَاۡفِكُوۡنَۖۚ ۴۵

    Then Moses threw his staff, and at once it devoured what they falsified.

    فَاُلۡقِىَ السَّحَرَةُ سٰجِدِيۡنَۙ ۴۶

    So the magicians fell down in prostration [to Allah].

    قَالُوۡۤا اٰمَنَّا بِرَبِّ الۡعٰلَمِيۡنَۙ ۴۷

    They said, "We have believed in the Lord of the worlds,

    رَبِّ مُوۡسٰى وَهٰرُوۡنَ ۴۸

    The Lord of Moses and Aaron."

    قَالَ اٰمَنۡتُمۡ لَهٗ قَبۡلَ اَنۡ اٰذَنَ لَـكُمۡۚ اِنَّهٗ لَـكَبِيۡرُكُمُ الَّذِىۡ عَلَّمَكُمُ السِّحۡرَۚ فَلَسَوۡفَ تَعۡلَمُوۡنَۙ لَاُقَطِّعَنَّ اَيۡدِيَكُمۡ وَاَرۡجُلَـكُمۡ مِّنۡ خِلَافٍ وَّلَاُصَلِّبَنَّكُمۡ اَجۡمَعِيۡنَۚ ۴۹

    [Pharaoh] said, "You believed Moses before I gave you permission. Indeed, he is your leader who has taught you magic, but you are going to know. I will surely cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, and I will surely crucify you all."

    قَالُوۡا لَا ضَيۡرَ اِنَّاۤ اِلٰى رَبِّنَا مُنۡقَلِبُوۡنَۚ ۵۰

    They said, "No harm. Indeed, to our Lord we will return.

    اِنَّا نَطۡمَعُ اَنۡ يَّغۡفِرَ لَـنَا رَبُّنَا خَطٰيٰـنَاۤ اَنۡ كُنَّاۤ اَوَّلَ الۡمُؤۡمِنِيۡنَؕ ۵۱

    Indeed, we aspire that our Lord will forgive us our sins because we were the first of the believers."

  52. 26:52

    ۞ وَاَوۡحَيۡنَاۤ اِلٰى مُوۡسٰٓى اَنۡ اَسۡرِ بِعِبَادِىۡۤ اِنَّكُمۡ مُّتَّبَعُوۡنَ ۵۲

    And We inspired to Moses, "Travel by night with My servants; indeed, you will be pursued."

    فَاَرۡسَلَ فِرۡعَوۡنُ فِى الۡمَدَآٮِٕنِ حٰشِرِيۡنَۚ ۵۳

    Then Pharaoh sent among the cities gatherers

    اِنَّ هٰٓؤُلَاۤءِ لَشِرۡذِمَةٌ قَلِيۡلُوۡنَۙ ۵۴

    [And said], "Indeed, those are but a small band,

    وَاِنَّهُمۡ لَـنَا لَـغَآٮِٕظُوۡنَۙ ۵۵

    And indeed, they are enraging us,

    وَاِنَّا لَجَمِيۡعٌ حٰذِرُوۡنَؕ ۵۶

    And indeed, we are a cautious society... "

    فَاَخۡرَجۡنٰهُمۡ مِّنۡ جَنّٰتٍ وَّعُيُوۡنٍۙ ۵۷

    So We removed them from gardens and springs

    وَّكُنُوۡزٍ وَّمَقَامٍ كَرِيۡمٍۙ ۵۸

    And treasures and honorable station -

  59. 26:59

    كَذٰلِكَؕ وَاَوۡرَثۡنٰهَا بَنِىۡۤ اِسۡرَآءِيۡلَؕ ۵۹

    Thus. And We caused to inherit it the Children of Israel.

  60. 26:60

    فَاَ تۡبَعُوۡهُمۡ مُّشۡرِقِيۡنَ ۶۰

    So they pursued them at sunrise.

  61. 26:61

    فَلَمَّا تَرَآءَ الۡجَمۡعٰنِ قَالَ اَصۡحٰبُ مُوۡسٰٓى اِنَّا لَمُدۡرَكُوۡنَۚ ۶۱

    And when the two companies saw one another, the companions of Moses said, "Indeed, we are to be overtaken!"

  62. 26:62

    قَالَ كَلَّاۚ اِنَّ مَعِىَ رَبِّىۡ سَيَهۡدِيۡنِ ۶۲

    [Moses] said, "No! Indeed, with me is my Lord; He will guide me."

  63. 26:63

    فَاَوۡحَيۡنَاۤ اِلٰى مُوۡسٰٓى اَنِ اضۡرِبْ بِّعَصَاكَ الۡبَحۡرَؕ فَانْفَلَقَ فَكَانَ كُلُّ فِرۡقٍ كَالطَّوۡدِ الۡعَظِيۡمِۚ ۶۳

    Then We inspired to Moses, "Strike with your staff the sea," and it parted, and each portion was like a great towering mountain.

  64. 26:64

    وَاَزۡلَـفۡنَا ثَمَّ الۡاٰخَرِيۡنَۚ ۶۴

    And We advanced thereto the pursuers.

  65. 26:65

    وَاَنۡجَيۡنَا مُوۡسٰى وَمَنۡ مَّعَهٗۤ اَجۡمَعِيۡنَۚ ۶۵

    And We saved Moses and those with him, all together.

  66. 26:66

    ثُمَّ اَغۡرَقۡنَا الۡاٰخَرِيۡنَؕ ۶۶

    Then We drowned the others.

  67. 26:67

    اِنَّ فِىۡ ذٰ لِكَ لَاَيَةً ؕ وَمَا كَانَ اَكۡثَرُهُمۡ مُّؤۡمِنِيۡنَ ۶۷

    Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.

    وَاِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ الۡعَزِيۡزُ الرَّحِيۡمُ ۶۸

    And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.

    وَاتۡلُ عَلَيۡهِمۡ نَبَاَ اِبۡرٰهِيۡمَۘ ۶۹

    And recite to them the news of Abraham,

    اِذۡ قَالَ لِاَبِيۡهِ وَقَوۡمِهٖ مَا تَعۡبُدُوۡنَ ۷۰

    When he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship?"

    قَالُوۡا نَـعۡبُدُ اَصۡنَامًا فَنَظَلُّ لَهَا عٰكِفِيۡنَ ۷۱

    They said, "We worship idols and remain to them devoted."

  72. 26:72

    قَالَ هَلۡ يَسۡمَعُوۡنَكُمۡ اِذۡ تَدۡعُوۡنَۙ ۷۲

    He said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate?

  73. 26:73

    اَوۡ يَنۡفَعُوۡنَكُمۡ اَوۡ يَضُرُّوۡنَ ۷۳

    Or do they benefit you, or do they harm?"

  74. 26:74

    قَالُوۡا بَلۡ وَجَدۡنَاۤ اٰبَآءَنَا كَذٰلِكَ يَفۡعَلُوۡنَ ۷۴

    They said, "But we found our fathers doing thus."

  75. 26:75

    قَالَ اَفَرَءَيۡتُمۡ مَّا كُنۡتُمۡ تَعۡبُدُوۡنَۙ ۷۵

    He said, "Then do you see what you have been worshipping,

  76. 26:76

    اَنۡـتُمۡ وَاٰبَآؤُكُمُ الۡاَقۡدَمُوۡنَۖ ۷۶

    You and your ancient forefathers?

  77. 26:77

    فَاِنَّهُمۡ عَدُوٌّ لِّىۡۤ اِلَّا رَبَّ الۡعٰلَمِيۡنَۙ ۷۷

    Indeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds,

  78. 26:78

    الَّذِىۡ خَلَقَنِىۡ فَهُوَ يَهۡدِيۡنِۙ ۷۸

    Who created me, and He [it is who] guides me.

  79. 26:79

    وَ الَّذِىۡ هُوَ يُطۡعِمُنِىۡ وَيَسۡقِيۡنِۙ ۷۹

    And it is He who feeds me and gives me drink.

  80. 26:80

    وَاِذَا مَرِضۡتُ فَهُوَ يَشۡفِيۡنِۙ ۸۰

    And when I am ill, it is He who cures me

  81. 26:81

    وَالَّذِىۡ يُمِيۡتُنِىۡ ثُمَّ يُحۡيِيۡنِۙ ۸۱

    And who will cause me to die and then bring me to life

  82. 26:82

    وَالَّذِىۡۤ اَطۡمَعُ اَنۡ يَّغۡفِرَ لِىۡ خَطِٓیْــَٔـتِىۡ يَوۡمَ الدِّيۡنِ ؕ ۸۲

    And who I aspire that He will forgive me my sin on the Day of Recompense."

  83. 26:83

    رَبِّ هَبۡ لِىۡ حُكۡمًا وَّاَلۡحِقۡنِىۡ بِالصّٰلِحِيۡنَۙ ۸۳

    [And he said], "My Lord, grant me authority and join me with the righteous.

  84. 26:84

    وَاجۡعَلْ لِّىۡ لِسَانَ صِدۡقٍ فِى الۡاٰخِرِيۡنَۙ ۸۴

    And grant me a reputation of honor among later generations.

  85. 26:85

    وَاجۡعَلۡنِىۡ مِنۡ وَّرَثَةِ جَنَّةِ النَّعِيۡمِۙ ۸۵

    And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Pleasure.

  86. 26:86

    وَاغۡفِرۡ لِاَبِىۡۤ اِنَّهٗ كَانَ مِنَ الضَّآلِّيۡنَۙ ۸۶

    And forgive my father. Indeed, he has been of those astray.

    وَلَا تُخۡزِنِىۡ يَوۡمَ يُبۡعَثُوۡنَۙ ۸۷

    And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected -

  88. 26:88

    يَوۡمَ لَا يَنۡفَعُ مَالٌ وَّلَا بَنُوۡنَۙ ۸۸

    The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children

  89. 26:89

    اِلَّا مَنۡ اَتَى اللّٰهَ بِقَلۡبٍ سَلِيۡمٍؕ ۸۹

    But only one who comes to Allah with a sound heart."

  90. 26:90

    وَاُزۡلِفَتِ الۡجَـنَّةُ لِلۡمُتَّقِيۡنَۙ ۹۰

    And Paradise will be brought near [that Day] to the righteous.

    وَبُرِّزَتِ الۡجَحِيۡمُ لِلۡغٰوِيۡنَۙ ۹۱

    And Hellfire will be brought forth for the deviators,

  92. 26:92

    وَقِيۡلَ لَهُمۡ اَيۡنَمَا كُنۡتُمۡ تَعۡبُدُوۡنَۙ ۹۲

    And it will be said to them, "Where are those you used to worship

  93. 26:93

    مِنۡ دُوۡنِ اللّٰهِؕ هَلۡ يَنۡصُرُوۡنَكُمۡ اَوۡ يَنۡتَصِرُوۡنَؕ ۹۳

    Other than Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?"

  94. 26:94

    فَكُبۡكِبُوۡا فِيۡهَا هُمۡ وَالۡغَاوٗنَۙ ۹۴

    So they will be overturned into Hellfire, they and the deviators

  95. 26:95

    وَجُنُوۡدُ اِبۡلِيۡسَ اَجۡمَعُوۡنَؕ ۹۵

    And the soldiers of Iblees, all together.

  96. 26:96

    قَالُوۡا وَهُمۡ فِيۡهَا يَخۡتَصِمُوۡنَۙ ۹۶

    They will say while they dispute therein,

  97. 26:97

    تَاللّٰهِ اِنۡ كُنَّا لَفِىۡ ضَلٰلٍ مُّبِيۡنٍۙ ۹۷

    "By Allah, we were indeed in manifest error

    Tafsir
  98. 26:98

    اِذۡ نُسَوِّيۡكُمۡ بِرَبِّ الۡعٰلَمِيۡنَ ۹۸

    When we equated you with the Lord of the worlds.

  99. 26:99

    وَمَاۤ اَضَلَّنَاۤ اِلَّا الۡمُجۡرِمُوۡنَ ۹۹

    And no one misguided us except the criminals.

  100. 26:100

    فَمَا لَـنَا مِنۡ شٰفِعِيۡنَۙ ۱۰۰

    So now we have no intercessors

  101. 26:101

    وَلَا صَدِيۡقٍ حَمِيۡمٍ ۱۰۱

    And not a devoted friend.

  102. 26:102

    فَلَوۡ اَنَّ لَـنَا كَرَّةً فَنَكُوۡنَ مِنَ الۡمُؤۡمِنِيۡنَ ۱۰۲

    Then if we only had a return [to the world] and could be of the believers... "

  103. 26:103

    اِنَّ فِىۡ ذٰ لِكَ لَاٰيَةً ؕ وَّمَا كَانَ اَكۡثَرُهُمۡ مُّؤۡمِنِيۡنَ ۱۰۳

    Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.

    وَاِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ الۡعَزِيۡزُ الرَّحِيۡمُ ۱۰۴

    And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.

    كَذَّبَتۡ قَوۡمُ نُوۡحِ ۨالۡمُرۡسَلِيۡنَۖۚ ۱۰۵

    The people of Noah denied the messengers

  106. 26:106

    اِذۡ قَالَ لَهُمۡ اَخُوۡهُمۡ نُوۡحٌ اَلَا تَتَّقُوۡنَۚ ۱۰۶

    When their brother Noah said to them, "Will you not fear Allah?

  107. 26:107

    اِنِّىۡ لَـكُمۡ رَسُوۡلٌ اَمِيۡنٌۙ ۱۰۷

    Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger.

  108. 26:108

    فَاتَّقُوۡا اللّٰهَ وَ اَطِيۡعُوۡنِۚ ۱۰۸

    So fear Allah and obey me.

  109. 26:109

    وَمَاۤ اَسۡـــَٔلُكُمۡ عَلَيۡهِ مِنۡ اَجۡرٍۚ اِنۡ اَجۡرِىَ اِلَّا عَلٰى رَبِّ الۡعٰلَمِيۡنَۚ ۱۰۹

    And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds.

    فَاتَّقُوا اللّٰهَ وَاَطِيۡعُوۡنِ ؕ ۱۱۰

    So fear Allah and obey me."

    26:111

    ۞ قَالُوۡۤا اَنُؤۡمِنُ لَكَ وَاتَّبَعَكَ الۡاَرۡذَلُوۡنَؕ ۱۱۱

    They said, "Should we believe you while you are followed by the lowest [class of people]?"

  112. 26:112

    قَالَ وَمَا عِلۡمِىۡ بِمَا كَانُوۡا يَعۡمَلُوۡنَۚ ۱۱۲

    He said, "And what is my knowledge of what they used to do?

  113. 26:113

    اِنۡ حِسَابُهُمۡ اِلَّا عَلٰى رَبِّىۡ لَوۡ تَشۡعُرُوۡنَۚ ۱۱۳

    Their account is only upon my Lord, if you [could] perceive.

  114. 26:114

    وَمَاۤ اَنَا بِطَارِدِ الۡمُؤۡمِنِيۡنَۚ ۱۱۴

    And I am not one to drive away the believers.

    اِنۡ اَنَا اِلَّا نَذِيۡرٌ مُّبِيۡنٌؕ ۱۱۵

    I am only a clear warner."

    قَالُوۡا لَٮِٕنۡ لَّمۡ تَنۡتَهِ يٰـنُوۡحُ لَـتَكُوۡنَنَّ مِنَ الۡمَرۡجُوۡمِيۡنَؕ ۱۱۶

    They said, "If you do not desist, O Noah, you will surely be of those who are stoned."

  117. 26:117

    قَالَ رَبِّ اِنَّ قَوۡمِىۡ كَذَّبُوۡنِۖۚ ۱۱۷

    He said, "My Lord, indeed my people have denied me.

  118. 26:118

    فَافۡتَحۡ بَيۡنِىۡ وَبَيۡنَهُمۡ فَتۡحًا وَّنَجِّنِىۡ وَمَنۡ مَّعِىَ مِنَ الۡمُؤۡمِنِيۡنَ ۱۱۸

    Then judge between me and them with decisive judgement and save me and those with me of the believers."

  119. 26:119

    فَاَنۡجَيۡنٰهُ وَمَنۡ مَّعَهٗ فِى الۡـفُلۡكِ الۡمَشۡحُوۡنِۚ ۱۱۹

    So We saved him and those with him in the laden ship.

    ثُمَّ اَغۡرَقۡنَا بَعۡدُ الۡبٰقِيۡنَؕ ۱۲۰

    Then We drowned thereafter the remaining ones.

    اِنَّ فِىۡ ذٰ لِكَ لَاَيَةً ؕ وَّمَا كَانَ اَكۡثَرُهُمۡ مُّؤۡمِنِيۡنَ ۱۲۱

    Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.

    وَ اِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ الۡعَزِيۡزُ الرَّحِيۡمُ ۱۲۲

    And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.

    كَذَّبَتۡ عَادُ اۨلۡمُرۡسَلِيۡنَۖۚ ۱۲۳

    'Aad denied the messengers

  124. 26:124

    اِذۡ قَالَ لَهُمۡ اَخُوۡهُمۡ هُوۡدٌ اَلَا تَتَّقُوۡنَۚ ۱۲۴

    When their brother Hud said to them, "Will you not fear Allah?

  125. 26:125

    اِنِّىۡ لَـكُمۡ رَسُوۡلٌ اَمِيۡنٌۙ ۱۲۵

    Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger.

  126. 26:126

    فَاتَّقُوا اللّٰهَ وَاَطِيۡعُوۡنِۚ ۱۲۶

    So fear Allah and obey me.

    وَمَاۤ اَسۡــَٔـلُكُمۡ عَلَيۡهِ مِنۡ اَجۡرٍۚ اِنۡ اَجۡرِىَ اِلَّا عَلٰى رَبِّ الۡعٰلَمِيۡنَ ؕ ۱۲۷

    And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds.

    اَتَبۡنُوۡنَ بِكُلِّ رِيۡعٍ اٰيَةً تَعۡبَثُوۡنَۙ ۱۲۸

    Do you construct on every elevation a sign, amusing yourselves,

  129. 26:129

    وَ تَتَّخِذُوۡنَ مَصَانِعَ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تَخۡلُدُوۡنَۚ ۱۲۹

    And take for yourselves palaces and fortresses that you might abide eternally?

    وَاِذَا بَطَشۡتُمۡ بَطَشۡتُمۡ جَبَّارِيۡنَۚ ۱۳۰

    And when you strike, you strike as tyrants.

    فَاتَّقُوا اللّٰهَ وَاَطِيۡعُوۡنِۚ ۱۳۱

    So fear Allah and obey me.

    وَاتَّقُوۡا الَّذِىۡۤ اَمَدَّكُمۡ بِمَا تَعۡلَمُوۡنَۚ ۱۳۲

    And fear He who provided you with that which you know,

    اَمَدَّكُمۡ بِاَنۡعَامٍ وَّبَنِيۡنَۚۙ ۱۳۳

    Provided you with grazing livestock and children

  134. 26:134

    وَجَنّٰتٍ وَّعُيُوۡنٍۚ ۱۳۴

    And gardens and springs.

  135. 26:135

    اِنِّىۡۤ اَخَافُ عَلَيۡكُمۡ عَذَابَ يَوۡمٍ عَظِيۡمٍؕ ۱۳۵

    Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a terrible day."

  136. 26:136

    قَالُوۡا سَوَآءٌ عَلَيۡنَاۤ اَوَعَظۡتَ اَمۡ لَمۡ تَكُنۡ مِّنَ الۡوٰعِظِيۡنَۙ ۱۳۶

    They said, "It is all the same to us whether you advise or are not of the advisors.

  137. 26:137

    اِنۡ هٰذَاۤ اِلَّا خُلُقُ الۡاَوَّلِيۡنَۙ ۱۳۷

    This is not but the custom of the former peoples,

  138. 26:138

    وَمَا نَحۡنُ بِمُعَذَّبِيۡنَۚ ۱۳۸

    And we are not to be punished."

  139. 26:139

    فَكَذَّبُوۡهُ فَاَهۡلَـكۡنٰهُمۡؕ اِنَّ فِىۡ ذٰلِكَ لَاَيَةً ؕ وَ مَا كَانَ اَكۡثَرُهُمۡ مُّؤۡمِنِيۡنَ ۱۳۹

    And they denied him, so We destroyed them. Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.

    وَاِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ الۡعَزِيۡزُ الرَّحِيۡمُ ۱۴۰

    And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.

    كَذَّبَتۡ ثَمُوۡدُ الۡمُرۡسَلِيۡنَۖۚ ۱۴۱

    Thamud denied the messengers

  142. 26:142

    اِذۡ قَالَ لَهُمۡ اَخُوۡهُمۡ صٰلِحٌ اَلَا تَتَّقُوۡنَۚ ۱۴۲

    When their brother Salih said to them, "Will you not fear Allah?

    اِنِّىۡ لَـكُمۡ رَسُوۡلٌ اَمِيۡنٌۙ ۱۴۳

    Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger.

  144. 26:144

    فَاتَّقُوۡا اللّٰهَ وَاَطِيۡعُوۡنِۚ ۱۴۴

    So fear Allah and obey me.

  145. 26:145

    وَمَاۤ اَسۡــَٔلُكُمۡ عَلَيۡهِ مِنۡ اَجۡرٍۚ اِنۡ اَجۡرِىَ اِلَّا عَلٰى رَبِّ الۡعٰلَمِيۡنَؕ ۱۴۵

    And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds.

  146. 26:146

    اَتُتۡرَكُوۡنَ فِىۡ مَا هٰهُنَاۤ اٰمِنِيۡنَۙ ۱۴۶

    Will you be left in what is here, secure [from death],

  147. 26:147

    فِىۡ جَنّٰتٍ وَّعُيُوۡنٍۙ ۱۴۷

    Within gardens and springs

    Tafsir
  148. 26:148

    وَّزُرُوۡعٍ وَّنَخۡلٍ طَلۡعُهَا هَضِيۡمٌۚ ۱۴۸

    And fields of crops and palm trees with softened fruit?

  149. 26:149

    وَتَـنۡحِتُوۡنَ مِنَ الۡجِبَالِ بُيُوۡتًا فٰرِهِيۡنَۚ ۱۴۹

    And you carve out of the mountains, homes, with skill.

  150. 26:150

    فَاتَّقُوا اللّٰهَ وَاَطِيۡعُوۡنِۚ ۱۵۰

    So fear Allah and obey me.

  151. 26:151

    وَلَا تُطِيۡعُوۡۤا اَمۡرَ الۡمُسۡرِفِيۡنَۙ ۱۵۱

    And do not obey the order of the transgressors,

    الَّذِيۡنَ يُفۡسِدُوۡنَ فِى الۡاَرۡضِ وَ لَا يُصۡلِحُوۡنَ ۱۵۲

    Who cause corruption in the land and do not amend."

    قَالُوۡۤا اِنَّمَاۤ اَنۡتَ مِنَ الۡمُسَحَّرِيۡنَۚ ۱۵۳

    They said, "You are only of those affected by magic.

    مَاۤ اَنۡتَ اِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِّثۡلُـنَاۖۚ فَاۡتِ بِاٰيَةٍ اِنۡ كُنۡتَ مِنَ الصّٰدِقِيۡنَ ۱۵۴

    You are but a man like ourselves, so bring a sign, if you should be of the truthful."

  155. 26:155

    قَالَ هٰذِهٖ نَاقَةٌ لَّهَا شِرۡبٌ وَّلَـكُمۡ شِرۡبُ يَوۡمٍ مَّعۡلُوۡمٍۚ ۱۵۵

    He said, "This is a she-camel. For her is a [time of] drink, and for you is a [time of] drink, [each] on a known day.

    وَلَا تَمَسُّوۡهَا بِسُوۡٓءٍ فَيَاۡخُذَكُمۡ عَذَابُ يَوۡمٍ عَظِيۡمٍ ۱۵۶

    And do not touch her with harm, lest you be seized by the punishment of a terrible day."

  157. 26:157

    فَعَقَرُوۡهَا فَاَصۡبَحُوۡا نٰدِمِيۡنَۙ ۱۵۷

    But they hamstrung her and so became regretful.

  158. 26:158

    فَاَخَذَهُمُ الۡعَذَابُؕ اِنَّ فِىۡ ذٰ لِكَ لَاٰيَةً ؕ وَمَا كَانَ اَكۡثَرُهُمۡ مُّؤۡمِنِيۡنَ ۱۵۸

    And the punishment seized them. Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.

  159. 26:159

    وَاِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ الۡعَزِيۡزُ الرَّحِيۡمُ ۱۵۹

    And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.

    كَذَّبَتۡ قَوۡمُ لُوۡطٍ اۨلۡمُرۡسَلِيۡنَۖۚ ۱۶۰

    The people of Lot denied the messengers

    اِذۡ قَالَ لَهُمۡ اَخُوۡهُمۡ لُوۡطٌ اَلَا تَتَّقُوۡنَۚ ۱۶۱

    When their brother Lot said to them, "Will you not fear Allah?

  162. 26:162

    اِنِّىۡ لَـكُمۡ رَسُوۡلٌ اَمِيۡنٌۙ ۱۶۲

    Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger.

  163. 26:163

    فَاتَّقُوا اللّٰهَ وَاَطِيۡعُوۡنِۚ ۱۶۳

    So fear Allah and obey me.

  164. 26:164

    وَمَاۤ اَسۡــَٔـلُكُمۡ عَلَيۡهِ مِنۡ اَجۡرٍۚ اِنۡ اَجۡرِىَ اِلَّا عَلٰى رَبِّ الۡعٰلَمِيۡنَ ؕ ۱۶۴

    And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds.

    اَتَاۡتُوۡنَ الذُّكۡرَانَ مِنَ الۡعٰلَمِيۡنَۙ ۱۶۵

    Do you approach males among the worlds

  166. 26:166

    وَ تَذَرُوۡنَ مَا خَلَقَ لَـكُمۡ رَبُّكُمۡ مِّنۡ اَزۡوَاجِكُمۡؕ بَلۡ اَنۡـتُمۡ قَوۡمٌ عٰدُوۡنَ ۱۶۶

    And leave what your Lord has created for you as mates? But you are a people transgressing."

  167. 26:167

    قَالُوۡا لَٮِٕنۡ لَّمۡ تَنۡتَهِ يٰلُوۡطُ لَـتَكُوۡنَنَّ مِنَ الۡمُخۡرَجِيۡنَ ۱۶۷

    They said, "If you do not desist, O Lot, you will surely be of those evicted."

    قَالَ اِنِّىۡ لِعَمَلِكُمۡ مِّنَ الۡقَالِيۡنَؕ ۱۶۸

    He said, "Indeed, I am, toward your deed, of those who detest [it].

    رَبِّ نَجِّنِىۡ وَاَهۡلِىۡ مِمَّا يَعۡمَلُوۡنَ ۱۶۹

    My Lord, save me and my family from [the consequence of] what they do."

    فَنَجَّيۡنٰهُ وَ اَهۡلَهٗۤ اَجۡمَعِيۡنَۙ ۱۷۰

    So We saved him and his family, all,

    اِلَّا عَجُوۡزًا فِى الۡغٰبِرِيۡنَۚ ۱۷۱

    Except an old woman among those who remained behind.

    ثُمَّ دَمَّرۡنَا الۡاٰخَرِيۡنَۚ ۱۷۲

    Then We destroyed the others.

    وَاَمۡطَرۡنَا عَلَيۡهِمۡ مَّطَرًاۚ فَسَآءَ مَطَرُ الۡمُنۡذَرِيۡنَ ۱۷۳

    And We rained upon them a rain [of stones], and evil was the rain of those who were warned.

    اِنَّ فِىۡ ذٰ لِكَ لَاَيَةً ؕ وَمَا كَانَ اَكۡثَرُهُمۡ مُّؤۡمِنِيۡنَ ۱۷۴

    Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.

    وَاِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ الۡعَزِيۡزُ الرَّحِيۡمُ ۱۷۵

    And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.

    كَذَّبَ اَصۡحٰبُ لْئَيۡكَةِ الۡمُرۡسَلِيۡنَۖۚ ۱۷۶

    The companions of the thicket denied the messengers

    اِذۡ قَالَ لَهُمۡ شُعَيۡبٌ اَلَا تَتَّقُوۡنَۚ ۱۷۷

    When Shu'ayb said to them, "Will you not fear Allah?

    اِنِّىۡ لَـكُمۡ رَسُوۡلٌ اَمِيۡنٌۙ ۱۷۸

    Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger.

    فَاتَّقُوا اللّٰهَ وَاَطِيۡعُوۡنِۚ ۱۷۹

    So fear Allah and obey me.

    ۞ اَوۡفُوا الۡـكَيۡلَ وَلَا تَكُوۡنُوۡا مِنَ الۡمُخۡسِرِيۡنَۚ ۱۸۱

    Give full measure and do not be of those who cause loss.

    وَزِنُوۡا بِالۡقِسۡطَاسِ الۡمُسۡتَقِيۡمِۚ ۱۸۲

    And weigh with an even balance.

    وَلَا تَبۡخَسُوا النَّاسَ اَشۡيَآءَهُمۡ وَلَا تَعۡثَوۡا فِى الۡاَرۡضِ مُفۡسِدِيۡنَۚ ۱۸۳

    And do not deprive people of their due and do not commit abuse on earth, spreading corruption.

    وَاتَّقُوا الَّذِىۡ خَلَقَكُمۡ وَالۡجِـبِلَّةَ الۡاَوَّلِيۡنَؕ ۱۸۴

    And fear He who created you and the former creation."

    قَالُوۡۤا اِنَّمَاۤ اَنۡتَ مِنَ الۡمُسَحَّرِيۡنَۙ ۱۸۵

    They said, "You are only of those affected by magic.

  186. 26:186

    وَمَاۤ اَنۡتَ اِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِّثۡلُـنَا وَ اِنۡ نَّظُنُّكَ لَمِنَ الۡكٰذِبِيۡنَۚ ۱۸۶

    You are but a man like ourselves, and indeed, we think you are among the liars.

  187. 26:187

    فَاَسۡقِطۡ عَلَيۡنَا كِسَفًا مِّنَ السَّمَآءِ اِنۡ كُنۡتَ مِنَ الصّٰدِقِيۡنَؕ ۱۸۷

    So cause to fall upon us fragments of the sky, if you should be of the truthful."

  188. 26:188

    قَالَ رَبِّىۡۤ اَعۡلَمُ بِمَا تَعۡمَلُوۡنَ ۱۸۸

    He said, "My Lord is most knowing of what you do."

  189. 26:189

    فَكَذَّبُوۡهُ فَاَخَذَهُمۡ عَذَابُ يَوۡمِ الظُّلَّةِؕ اِنَّهٗ كَانَ عَذَابَ يَوۡمٍ عَظِيۡمٍ ۱۸۹

    And they denied him, so the punishment of the day of the black cloud seized them. Indeed, it was the punishment of a terrible day.

    اِنَّ فِىۡ ذٰ لِكَ لَاَيَةً ؕ وَمَا كَانَ اَكۡثَرُهُمۡ مُّؤۡمِنِيۡنَ ۱۹۰

    Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.

    وَاِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ الۡعَزِيۡزُ الرَّحِيۡمُ ۱۹۱

    And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.

    وَاِنَّهٗ لَـتَنۡزِيۡلُ رَبِّ الۡعٰلَمِيۡنَؕ ۱۹۲

    And indeed, the Qur'an is the revelation of the Lord of the worlds.

    نَزَلَ بِهِ الرُّوۡحُ الۡاَمِيۡنُۙ ۱۹۳

    The Trustworthy Spirit has brought it down

    عَلٰى قَلۡبِكَ لِتَكُوۡنَ مِنَ الۡمُنۡذِرِيۡنَۙ ۱۹۴

    Upon your heart, [O Muhammad] - that you may be of the warners -

    بِلِسَانٍ عَرَبِىٍّ مُّبِيۡنٍؕ ۱۹۵

    In a clear Arabic language.

    وَاِنَّهٗ لَفِىۡ زُبُرِ الۡاَوَّلِيۡنَ ۱۹۶

    And indeed, it is [mentioned] in the scriptures of former peoples.

    اَوَلَمۡ يَكُنۡ لَّهُمۡ اٰيَةً اَنۡ يَّعۡلَمَهٗ عُلَمٰٓؤُا بَنِىۡۤ اِسۡرَآءِيۡلَؕ ۱۹۷

    And has it not been a sign to them that it is recognized by the scholars of the Children of Israel?

  198. 26:198

    وَلَوۡ نَزَّلۡنٰهُ عَلٰى بَعۡضِ الۡاَعۡجَمِيۡنَۙ ۱۹۸

    And even if We had revealed it to one among the foreigners

    فَقَرَاَهٗ عَلَيۡهِمۡ مَّا كَانُوۡا بِهٖ مُؤۡمِنِيۡنَؕ ۱۹۹

    And he had recited it to them [perfectly], they would [still] not have been believers in it.

  200. 26:200

    كَذٰلِكَ سَلَكۡنٰهُ فِىۡ قُلُوۡبِ الۡمُجۡرِمِيۡنَؕ ۲۰۰

    Thus have We inserted disbelief into the hearts of the criminals.

    لَا يُؤۡمِنُوۡنَ بِهٖ حَتّٰى يَرَوُا الۡعَذَابَ الۡاَلِيۡمَۙ ۲۰۱

    They will not believe in it until they see the painful punishment.

    فَيَاۡتِيَهُمۡ بَغۡتَةً وَّهُمۡ لَا يَشۡعُرُوۡنَۙ ۲۰۲

    And it will come to them suddenly while they perceive [it] not.

    فَيَـقُوۡلُوۡا هَلۡ نَحۡنُ مُنۡظَرُوۡنَؕ ۲۰۳

    And they will say, "May we be reprieved?"

    اَفَبِعَذَابِنَا يَسۡتَعۡجِلُوۡنَ ۲۰۴

    So for Our punishment are they impatient?

    اَفَرَءَيۡتَ اِنۡ مَّتَّعۡنٰهُمۡ سِنِيۡنَۙ ۲۰۵

    Then have you considered if We gave them enjoyment for years

    ثُمَّ جَآءَهُمۡ مَّا كَانُوۡا يُوۡعَدُوۡنَۙ ۲۰۶

    And then there came to them that which they were promised?

    مَاۤ اَغۡنٰى عَنۡهُمۡ مَّا كَانُوۡا يُمَتَّعُوۡنَؕ ۲۰۷

    They would not be availed by the enjoyment with which they were provided.

    وَمَاۤ اَهۡلَكۡنَا مِنۡ قَرۡيَةٍ اِلَّا لَهَا مُنۡذِرُوۡنَۛۖ ۲۰۸

    And We did not destroy any city except that it had warners

    ذِكۡرٰىۛ وَمَا كُنَّا ظٰلِمِيۡنَ ۲۰۹

    As a reminder; and never have We been unjust.

    وَمَا تَنَزَّلَتۡ بِهِ الشَّيٰطِيۡنُ ۲۱۰

    And the devils have not brought the revelation down.

    وَمَا يَنۡۢبَغِىۡ لَهُمۡ وَمَا يَسۡتَطِيۡعُوۡنَؕ ۲۱۱

    It is not allowable for them, nor would they be able.

    اِنَّهُمۡ عَنِ السَّمۡعِ لَمَعۡزُوۡلُوۡنَؕ ۲۱۲

    Indeed they, from [its] hearing, are removed.

    فَلَا تَدۡعُ مَعَ اللّٰهِ اِلٰهًا اٰخَرَ فَتَكُوۡنَ مِنَ الۡمُعَذَّبِيۡنَۚ ۲۱۳

    So do not invoke with Allah another deity and [thus] be among the punished.

  214. 26:214

    وَاَنۡذِرۡ عَشِيۡرَتَكَ الۡاَقۡرَبِيۡنَۙ ۲۱۴

    And warn, [O Muhammad], your closest kindred.

    وَاخۡفِضۡ جَنَاحَكَ لِمَنِ اتَّبَعَكَ مِنَ الۡمُؤۡمِنِيۡنَۚ ۲۱۵

    And lower your wing to those who follow you of the believers.

  216. 26:216

    فَاِنۡ عَصَوۡكَ فَقُلۡ اِنِّىۡ بَرِىۡٓءٌ مِّمَّا تَعۡمَلُوۡنَۚ ۲۱۶

    And if they disobey you, then say, "Indeed, I am disassociated from what you are doing."

    وَتَوَكَّلۡ عَلَى الۡعَزِيۡزِ الرَّحِيۡمِۙ ۲۱۷

    And rely upon the Exalted in Might, the Merciful,

    الَّذِىۡ يَرٰٮكَ حِيۡنَ تَقُوۡمُۙ ۲۱۸

    Who sees you when you arise

  219. 26:219

    وَتَقَلُّبَكَ فِى السّٰجِدِيۡنَ ۲۱۹

    And your movement among those who prostrate.

  220. 26:220

    اِنَّهٗ هُوَ السَّمِيۡعُ الۡعَلِيۡمُ ۲۲۰

    Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing.

    هَلۡ اُنَبِّئُكُمۡ عَلٰى مَنۡ تَنَزَّلُ الشَّيٰـطِيۡنُؕ ۲۲۱

    Shall I inform you upon whom the devils descend?

    تَنَزَّلُ عَلٰى كُلِّ اَفَّاكٍ اَثِيۡمٍۙ ۲۲۲

    They descend upon every sinful liar.

    يُّلۡقُوۡنَ السَّمۡعَ وَاَكۡثَرُهُمۡ كٰذِبُوۡنَؕ ۲۲۳

    They pass on what is heard, and most of them are liars.

    وَالشُّعَرَآءُ يَتَّبِعُهُمُ الۡغَاوٗنَؕ ۲۲۴

    And the poets - [only] the deviators follow them;

    اَلَمۡ تَرَ اَنَّهُمۡ فِىۡ كُلِّ وَادٍ يَّهِيۡمُوۡنَۙ ۲۲۵

    Do you not see that in every valley they roam

  226. 26:226

    وَاَنَّهُمۡ يَقُوۡلُوۡنَ مَا لَا يَفۡعَلُوۡنَۙ ۲۲۶

    And that they say what they do not do? -

  227. 26:227

    اِلَّا الَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا وَعَمِلُوا الصّٰلِحٰتِ وَذَكَرُوا اللّٰهَ كَثِيۡرًا وَّانْتَصَرُوۡا مِنۡۢ بَعۡدِ مَا ظُلِمُوۡا ؕ وَسَيَـعۡلَمُ الَّذِيۡنَ ظَلَمُوۡۤا اَىَّ مُنۡقَلَبٍ يَّـنۡقَلِبُوۡنَ ۲۲۷

    Except those [poets] who believe and do righteous deeds and remember Allah often and defend [the Muslims] after they were wronged. And those who have wronged are going to know to what [kind of] return they will be returned.
