The Bahamas has a small Muslim community estimated at less than 0.5 percent of the population, numbering perhaps 1,500 to 2,000 adherents in an archipelago nation of approximately 410,000. The community is composed of Caribbean-origin converts, recent immigrants from Guyana and Trinidad, and a small number of professionals from South Asia and the Middle East working in tourism and financial services. The Masjid Al-Ihsaan in Nassau serves as the principal congregational space and was established in the 1990s through community initiative. The Jamaat ul-Muslimeen of the Bahamas is the registered umbrella body for Sunni Muslims. There is no state Islamic authority, and the community is too small to support a formal Islamic school. eSalah uses the Muslim World League default for the Bahamas, consistent with Caribbean regional practice; the ISNA method is offered as an alternate given ties to the United States. The community maintains ongoing links with Trinidadian and Florida-based mosque networks for halal certification, religious education, and Eid coordination.
