Prayer times in Canada

Canada has a Muslim community of approximately 4.9 percent of the population per the 2021 census, or roughly 1.78 million people, making Islam the second-largest religion in the country. The community is highly diverse, with origins in South Asia (Pakistan, India, Bangladesh), the Arab world (Lebanon, Egypt, Morocco, Iraq, Syria), Iran, the Horn of Africa (Somalia), and the Balkans, alongside a substantial convert population. The earliest documented Canadian Muslim presence dates to the 1871 census; the Al-Rashid Mosque in Edmonton, opened in 1938, is the oldest mosque in Canada and the second oldest in North America. The Baitun Nur Mosque in Calgary and the ISNA Canada Centre in Mississauga are among the country's largest congregational facilities. The Canadian Council of Imams and the Muslim Association of Canada coordinate national affairs. There is no state Islamic authority. eSalah uses the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) method as the default for Canadian cities, consistent with prevailing North American practice; the ISNA convention uses Fajr/Isha angles of 15°/15°.
