Denmark has a Muslim community of approximately 4.4 to 5.5 percent of the population, or roughly 280,000 to 320,000 people, drawn from Turkish, Pakistani, Iraqi, Lebanese (predominantly Palestinian-Lebanese), Bosnian, Somali, Iranian, Moroccan, and Afghan migrant communities, with a smaller native Danish convert population. The community is concentrated in Copenhagen, Aarhus, Odense, and Aalborg. The Nusrat Djahan Mosque in Hvidovre, opened in 1967 by the Ahmadiyya community, is the oldest purpose-built mosque in Scandinavia; the Hamad Bin Khalifa Civilisation Centre Grand Mosque in Copenhagen, opened in 2014 with Qatari funding, is the largest Sunni mosque in the country. The Danish Islamic Council (Dansk Muslimsk Råd) and the Islamic Faith Society (Islamisk Trossamfund) are the principal national bodies. There is no formal state-recognized Islamic authority equivalent to the established Lutheran Church. eSalah uses the Muslim World League default for Denmark; the Diyanet method is offered as an alternate given Turkish-origin congregations.
