Prayer times in Guinea

Guinea is a Muslim-majority country with approximately 85 percent of the population identifying as Muslim, predominantly Sunni of the Maliki school with a deeply rooted Tijaniyya and Qadiriyya Sufi presence. The community is composed primarily of Fula (Pular/Fulani) of the Fouta Djallon highlands — historically the seat of the eighteenth-century Imamate of Futa Jallon, one of the major theocratic states of pre-colonial West Africa — alongside Maninka, Susu, and other ethnic groups. The Imamate of Futa Jallon (1725–1896), founded by Karamoko Alfa, was a foundational state for the spread of Islamic scholarship and Tijaniyya Sufism across the region. The Grand Mosque of Faisal in Conakry (the Grande Mosquée Fayçal), opened in 1982 with Saudi funding, is the largest mosque in West Africa by capacity, accommodating roughly 12,500 worshippers, and the burial place of Ahmed Sékou Touré.
