Prayer times in Togo

Togo has a Muslim community of approximately 14 percent of the population per recent census estimates (with community sources sometimes citing higher figures of 18 to 20 percent), concentrated in the central and northern regions (especially Centrale, Kara, Savanes) and in the Zongo neighborhoods of southern cities including Lomé, Sokodé, and Atakpamé. The community is composed predominantly of the Kotokoli (Tem), Tchamba, and Hausa ethnic groups, with smaller Mossi, Songhai, and Yoruba components, all with deep historical ties to trans-Saharan and Sahelian Islamic trade networks. The community is overwhelmingly Sunni of the Maliki school with a strong Tijaniyya and Qadiriyya Sufi presence. The Sokodé Grand Mosque and the Lomé Central Mosque serve as principal congregational centers. The Union Musulmane du Togo (UMT) is the principal national umbrella body. There is no Islamic university operating within the country, and most advanced religious education is pursued in Saudi Arabia, Egypt, or neighboring West African states. eSalah uses the Muslim World League default for Togo; the Algerian method is offered as a regionally-tested West African alternate.
