ۘ Signs of waqf (pauses)

Waqf (وقف, “stop”) signs tell the reciter where to pause for breath while intending to continue. They appear slightly smaller and raised above the line. Follow them to avoid changing the meaning. Where two signs appear one above the other, give preference to the one on top.

waqf tām — وقف تامّ — “Perfect stop” — the end of a verse. The meaning is complete; stop and take a breath before continuing. Shown by the verse circle.
مـ
waqf lāzim — وقف لازم — “Required stop” — it is absolutely necessary to stop; not stopping can change the meaning (like “Stand! not Sit!” vs “Stand not! Sit!”).
ط
waqf muṭlaq — وقف مطلق — “Absolute stop” — break the breath and voice before continuing. The sentence is not yet complete but more follows before the meaning finishes.
ج
waqf jāʾiz — وقف جائز — “Permissible stop” — better to stop here, but if you do not, that is fine.
ز
waqf mujawwaz — وقف مجوّز — It is better not to stop here.
ص
waqf murakhkhaṣ — وقف مرخّص — “Licensed pause” — continue reading; but if you are tired you may pause for a breath. More desirable to continue than at ز.
صلے
al-waṣl awlā — الوصل أولى — “Continuing is preferable” — it is better to carry on reciting here.
ق
qīla ʿalayhil-waqf — قيل عليه الوقف — It has been said that it is better not to stop here — the sign marks a difference of opinion on whether to stop.
قﻲ
qad yūṣal — قد يوصل — It is better to stop here, but continuing is permissible.
قف
qif — قِف — “Stop!” — used where the reciter might otherwise continue instead of stopping.
س
saktah — سكتة — “Silence” — stop reciting but do not break the breath before continuing. Obligatory in four places (Sūrah al-Kahf, Yāsīn, al-Qiyāmah and al-Muṭaffifīn).
وقفة
waqfah — وقفة — Pause here longer than at a saktah, again without breaking the breath.
لا
— لا — “No!” — do not stop here, as it would affect the meaning. If it falls at a verse-end it is still better not to stop, but if you do the meaning is alright.
ك
kadhālik — كذلك — “Like that” — apply the previous waqf sign at this position as well.

muʿānaqah — معانقة — “Embracing stop” — triple dots appearing in pairs: stopping at the first forbids stopping at the second (and vice versa), or the meaning becomes incomplete. Stop at one or the other, not both.
— Marks a point where there is a difference of opinion as to whether it is the end of an āyah.
waqf an-nabī ﷺ — وقف النبي ﷺ — Indicates places where the Prophet ﷺ paused.
waqf ghufrān — وقف غفران — It is said that if the reciter and listener make duʿāʾ when pausing here, it will be answered.
waqf manzil — وقف منزل — Also waqf jibrāʾīl — where Jibrīl (peace be upon him) paused at the time of revelation.
۝ Punctuation marks in the Arabic text

Qurʾanic punctuation in the Arabic script uses several symbols indicating variations in methods of qirāʾah (recitation). These symbols, known as the ʿAlāmāt al-Waqf (signs for stops), are briefly described below.

Shows the end of a verse — a pause is a must.
مـ
Waqf Lāzim — The stop at which the word and meaning give a complete sense (a “complete stop”): the utterance is complete and separated from what follows.
ط
Waqf Jāʾiz, al-Waqf Awlā — May or may not stop, but the first preference is to stop. (The “sufficient stop”: stopping or continuing is permissible, yet stopping is preferable, since the phrase can stand by itself.)
ج
Waqf Jāʾiz — May or may not stop at the place indicated (no preference either way).
ز
It is better not to stop here.
Breaking the voice at a Qurʾanic word for a brief moment without taking a breath — at two counts (nearly two seconds).
صلے
Waqf Jāʾiz, al-Waṣl Awlā — May or may not stop at the place indicated, but the first preference is not to stop.
ق
It is better not to stop here.
صل
Better to stop.
قف
It is better to take a pause.
س
Stop the vocal sound for a moment without breaking the breath.
وقفة

  1. 57:1

    سَبَّحَ لِلّٰهِ مَا فِى السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالۡاَرۡضِۚ وَهُوَ الۡعَزِيۡزُ الۡحَكِيۡمُ ۱

    Whatever is in the heavens and earth exalts Allah, and He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise.

  2. 57:2

    لَهٗ مُلۡكُ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالۡاَرۡضِۚ يُحۡىٖ وَيُمِيۡتُۚ وَهُوَ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَىۡءٍ قَدِيۡرٌ ۲

    His is the dominion of the heavens and earth. He gives life and causes death, and He is over all things competent.

  3. 57:3

    هُوَ الۡاَوَّلُ وَالۡاٰخِرُ وَالظَّاهِرُ وَالۡبَاطِنُۚ وَهُوَ بِكُلِّ شَىۡءٍ عَلِيۡمٌ ۳

    He is the First and the Last, the Ascendant and the Intimate, and He is, of all things, Knowing.

    7:53 هَلْ يَنظُرُونَ إِلَّا تَأْوِيلَهُۥ يَوْمَ يَأْتِى تَأْوِيلُهُۥ يَقُولُ ٱلَّذِينَ نَسُوهُ مِن قَبْلُ قَدْ جَآءَتْ رُسُلُ رَبِّنَا بِٱلْحَقِّ فَهَل لَّنَا مِن شُفَعَآءَ فَيَشْفَعُوا لَنَآ أَوْ نُرَدُّ فَنَعْمَلَ غَيْرَ ٱلَّذِى كُنَّا نَعْمَلُ قَدْ خَسِرُوٓا أَنفُسَهُمْ وَضَلَّ عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا يَفْتَرُونَ 10:2 أَكَانَ لِلنَّاسِ عَجَبًا أَنْ أَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَىٰ رَجُلٍ مِّنْهُمْ أَنْ أَنذِرِ ٱلنَّاسَ وَبَشِّرِ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا أَنَّ لَهُمْ قَدَمَ صِدْقٍ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ قَالَ ٱلْكَـٰفِرُونَ إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَسَـٰحِرٌ مُّبِينٌ 11:6 وَمَا مِن دَآبَّةٍ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ إِلَّا عَلَى ٱللَّهِ رِزْقُهَا وَيَعْلَمُ مُسْتَقَرَّهَا وَمُسْتَوْدَعَهَا كُلٌّ فِى كِتَـٰبٍ مُّبِينٍ 25:58 وَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى ٱلْحَىِّ ٱلَّذِى لَا يَمُوتُ وَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِهِۦ وَكَفَىٰ بِهِۦ بِذُنُوبِ عِبَادِهِۦ خَبِيرًا 32:3 أَمْ يَقُولُونَ ٱفْتَرَىٰهُ بَلْ هُوَ ٱلْحَقُّ مِن رَّبِّكَ لِتُنذِرَ قَوْمًا مَّآ أَتَىٰهُم مِّن نَّذِيرٍ مِّن قَبْلِكَ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَهْتَدُونَ 34:1 ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ ٱلَّذِى لَهُۥ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَلَهُ ٱلْحَمْدُ فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ وَهُوَ ٱلْحَكِيمُ ٱلْخَبِيرُ
  4. 57:4

    هُوَ الَّذِىۡ خَلَقَ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالۡاَرۡضَ فِىۡ سِتَّةِ اَيَّامٍ ثُمَّ اسۡتَوٰى عَلَى الۡعَرۡشِؕ يَعۡلَمُ مَا يَلِجُ فِى الۡاَرۡضِ وَمَا يَخۡرُجُ مِنۡهَا وَمَا يَنۡزِلُ مِنَ السَّمَآءِ وَمَا يَعۡرُجُ فِيۡهَاؕ وَهُوَ مَعَكُمۡ اَيۡنَ مَا كُنۡتُمۡؕ وَاللّٰهُ بِمَا تَعۡمَلُوۡنَ بَصِيۡرٌ ۴

    It is He who created the heavens and earth in six days and then established Himself above the Throne. He knows what penetrates into the earth and what emerges from it and what descends from the heaven and what ascends therein; and He is with you wherever you are. And Allah, of what you do, is Seeing.

    لَهٗ مُلۡكُ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالۡاَرۡضِؕ وَاِلَى اللّٰهِ تُرۡجَعُ الۡاُمُوۡرُ ۵

    His is the dominion of the heavens and earth. And to Allah are returned [all] matters.

  6. 57:6

    يُوۡلِجُ الَّيۡلَ فِى النَّهَارِ وَيُوۡلِجُ النَّهَارَ فِى الَّيۡلِؕ وَهُوَ عَلِيۡمٌۢ بِذَاتِ الصُّدُوۡرِ ۶

    He causes the night to enter the day and causes the day to enter the night, and he is Knowing of that within the breasts.

  7. 57:7

    اٰمِنُوۡا بِاللّٰهِ وَرَسُوۡلِهٖ وَاَنۡفِقُوۡا مِمَّا جَعَلَـكُمۡ مُّسۡتَخۡلَفِيۡنَ فِيۡهِؕ فَالَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا مِنۡكُمۡ وَاَنۡفَقُوۡا لَهُمۡ اَجۡرٌ كَبِيۡرٌ ۷

    Believe in Allah and His Messenger and spend out of that in which He has made you successors. For those who have believed among you and spent, there will be a great reward.

  8. 57:8

    وَمَا لَـكُمۡ لَا تُؤۡمِنُوۡنَ بِاللّٰهِۚ وَالرَّسُوۡلُ يَدۡعُوۡكُمۡ لِتُؤۡمِنُوۡا بِرَبِّكُمۡ وَقَدۡ اَخَذَ مِيۡثَاقَكُمۡ اِنۡ كُنۡتُمۡ مُّؤۡمِنِيۡنَ ۸

    And why do you not believe in Allah while the Messenger invites you to believe in your Lord and He has taken your covenant, if you should [truly] be believers?

  9. 57:9

    هُوَ الَّذِىۡ يُنَزِّلُ عَلٰى عَبۡدِهٖۤ اٰيٰتٍۭ بَيِّنٰتٍ لِّيُخۡرِجَكُمۡ مِّنَ الظُّلُمٰتِ اِلَى النُّوۡرِؕ وَاِنَّ اللّٰهَ بِكُمۡ لَرَءُوۡفٌ رَّحِيۡمٌ ۹

    It is He who sends down upon His Servant [Muhammad] verses of clear evidence that He may bring you out from darknesses into the light. And indeed, Allah is to you Kind and Merciful.

  10. 57:10

    وَ مَا لَـكُمۡ اَلَّا تُنۡفِقُوۡا فِىۡ سَبِيۡلِ اللّٰهِ وَلِلّٰهِ مِيۡـرَاثُ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَ الۡاَرۡضِؕ لَا يَسۡتَوِىۡ مِنۡكُمۡ مَّنۡ اَنۡفَقَ مِنۡ قَبۡلِ الۡفَتۡحِ وَقَاتَلَ ؕ اُولٰٓٮِٕكَ اَعۡظَمُ دَرَجَةً مِّنَ الَّذِيۡنَ اَنۡفَقُوۡا مِنۡۢ بَعۡدُ وَقَاتَلُوۡا ؕ وَكُلًّا وَّعَدَ اللّٰهُ الۡحُسۡنٰىؕ وَاللّٰهُ بِمَا تَعۡمَلُوۡنَ خَبِيۡرٌ ۱۰

    And why do you not spend in the cause of Allah while to Allah belongs the heritage of the heavens and the earth? Not equal among you are those who spent before the conquest [of Makkah] and fought [and those who did so after it]. Those are greater in degree than they who spent afterwards and fought. But to all Allah has promised the best [reward]. And Allah, with what you do, is Acquainted.

  11. 57:11

    مَنۡ ذَا الَّذِىۡ يُقۡرِضُ اللّٰهَ قَرۡضًا حَسَنًا فَيُضٰعِفَهٗ لَهٗ وَلَهٗۤ اَجۡرٌ كَرِيۡمٌۚ ۱۱

    Who is it that would loan Allah a goodly loan so He will multiply it for him and he will have a noble reward?

  12. 57:12

    يَوۡمَ تَرَى الۡمُؤۡمِنِيۡنَ وَالۡمُؤۡمِنٰتِ يَسۡعٰى نُوۡرُهُمۡ بَيۡنَ اَيۡدِيۡهِمۡ وَبِاَيۡمَانِهِمۡ بُشۡرٰٮكُمُ الۡيَوۡمَ جَنّٰتٌ تَجۡرِىۡ مِنۡ تَحۡتِهَا الۡاَنۡهٰرُ خٰلِدِيۡنَ فِيۡهَاؕ ذٰلِكَ هُوَ الۡفَوۡزُ الۡعَظِيۡمُۚ ۱۲

    On the Day you see the believing men and believing women, their light proceeding before them and on their right, [it will be said], "Your good tidings today are [of] gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein you will abide eternally." That is what is the great attainment.

  13. 57:13

    يَوۡمَ يَقُوۡلُ الۡمُنٰفِقُوۡنَ وَالۡمُنٰفِقٰتُ لِلَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوا انْظُرُوۡنَا نَقۡتَبِسۡ مِنۡ نُّوۡرِكُمۡۚ قِيۡلَ ارۡجِعُوۡا وَرَآءَكُمۡ فَالۡتَمِسُوۡا نُوۡرًاؕ فَضُرِبَ بَيۡنَهُمۡ بِسُوۡرٍ لَّهٗ بَابٌؕ بَاطِنُهٗ فِيۡهِ الرَّحۡمَةُ وَظَاهِرُهٗ مِنۡ قِبَلِهِ الۡعَذَابُؕ ۱۳

    On the [same] Day the hypocrite men and hypocrite women will say to those who believed, "Wait for us that we may acquire some of your light." It will be said, "Go back behind you and seek light." And a wall will be placed between them with a door, its interior containing mercy, but on the outside of it is torment.

  14. 57:14

    يُنَادُوۡنَهُمۡ اَلَمۡ نَكُنۡ مَّعَكُمۡؕ قَالُوۡا بَلٰى وَلٰـكِنَّكُمۡ فَتَنۡتُمۡ اَنۡفُسَكُمۡ وَ تَرَبَّصۡتُمۡ وَارۡتَبۡتُمۡ وَغَرَّتۡكُمُ الۡاَمَانِىُّ حَتّٰى جَآءَ اَمۡرُ اللّٰهِ وَ غَرَّكُمۡ بِاللّٰهِ الۡغَرُوۡرُ ۱۴

    The hypocrites will call to the believers, "Were we not with you?" They will say, "Yes, but you afflicted yourselves and awaited [misfortune for us] and doubted, and wishful thinking deluded you until there came the command of Allah. And the Deceiver deceived you concerning Allah.

  15. 57:15

    فَالۡيَوۡمَ لَا يُؤۡخَذُ مِنۡكُمۡ فِدۡيَةٌ وَّلَا مِنَ الَّذِيۡنَ كَفَرُوۡاؕ مَاۡوٰٮكُمُ النَّارُؕ هِىَ مَوۡلٰٮكُمۡؕ وَبِئۡسَ الۡمَصِيۡرُ ۱۵

    So today no ransom will be taken from you or from those who disbelieved. Your refuge is the Fire. It is most worthy of you, and wretched is the destination.

  16. 57:16

    ۞ اَلَمۡ يَاۡنِ لِلَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡۤا اَنۡ تَخۡشَعَ قُلُوۡبُهُمۡ لِذِكۡرِ اللّٰهِ وَمَا نَزَلَ مِنَ الۡحَـقِّۙ وَلَا يَكُوۡنُوۡا كَالَّذِيۡنَ اُوۡتُوا الۡكِتٰبَ مِنۡ قَبۡلُ فَطَالَ عَلَيۡهِمُ الۡاَمَدُ فَقَسَتۡ قُلُوۡبُهُمۡؕ وَكَثِيۡرٌ مِّنۡهُمۡ فٰسِقُوۡنَ ۱۶

    Has the time not come for those who have believed that their hearts should become humbly submissive at the remembrance of Allah and what has come down of the truth? And let them not be like those who were given the Scripture before, and a long period passed over them, so their hearts hardened; and many of them are defiantly disobedient.

  17. 57:17

    اِعۡلَمُوۡۤا اَنَّ اللّٰهَ يُحۡىِ الۡاَرۡضَ بَعۡدَ مَوۡتِهَاؕ قَدۡ بَيَّنَّا لَكُمُ الۡاٰيٰتِ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تَعۡقِلُوۡنَ ۱۷

    Know that Allah gives life to the earth after its lifelessness. We have made clear to you the signs; perhaps you will understand.

  18. 57:18

    اِنَّ الۡمُصَّدِّقِيۡنَ وَالۡمُصَّدِّقٰتِ وَاَقۡرَضُوا اللّٰهَ قَرۡضًا حَسَنًا يُّضٰعَفُ لَهُمۡ وَلَهُمۡ اَجۡرٌ كَرِيۡمٌ ۱۸

    Indeed, the men who practice charity and the women who practice charity and [they who] have loaned Allah a goodly loan - it will be multiplied for them, and they will have a noble reward.

  19. 57:19

    وَالَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا بِاللّٰهِ وَرُسُلِهٖۤ اُولٰٓٮِٕكَ هُمُ الصِّدِّيۡقُوۡنَۖ وَالشُّهَدَآءُ عِنۡدَ رَبِّهِمۡؕ لَهُمۡ اَجۡرُهُمۡ وَنُوۡرُهُمۡؕ وَ الَّذِيۡنَ كَفَرُوۡا وَكَذَّبُوۡا بِاٰيٰتِنَاۤ اُولٰٓٮِٕكَ اَصۡحٰبُ الۡجَحِيۡمِ ۱۹

    And those who have believed in Allah and His messengers - those are [in the ranks of] the supporters of truth and the martyrs, with their Lord. For them is their reward and their light. But those who have disbelieved and denied Our verses - those are the companions of Hellfire.

    6:69 وَمَا عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ يَتَّقُونَ مِنْ حِسَابِهِم مِّن شَىْءٍ وَلَـٰكِن ذِكْرَىٰ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَّقُونَ 6:31 قَدْ خَسِرَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا بِلِقَآءِ ٱللَّهِ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا جَآءَتْهُمُ ٱلسَّاعَةُ بَغْتَةً قَالُوا يَـٰحَسْرَتَنَا عَلَىٰ مَا فَرَّطْنَا فِيهَا وَهُمْ يَحْمِلُونَ أَوْزَارَهُمْ عَلَىٰ ظُهُورِهِمْ أَلَا سَآءَ مَا يَزِرُونَ 29:63 وَلَئِن سَأَلْتَهُم مَّن نَّزَّلَ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءً فَأَحْيَا بِهِ ٱلْأَرْضَ مِن بَعْدِ مَوْتِهَا لَيَقُولُنَّ ٱللَّهُ قُلِ ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ بَلْ أَكْثَرُهُمْ لَا يَعْقِلُونَ 47:35 فَلَا تَهِنُوا وَتَدْعُوٓا إِلَى ٱلسَّلْمِ وَأَنتُمُ ٱلْأَعْلَوْنَ وَٱللَّهُ مَعَكُمْ وَلَن يَتِرَكُمْ أَعْمَـٰلَكُمْ 39:20 لَـٰكِنِ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّقَوْا رَبَّهُمْ لَهُمْ غُرَفٌ مِّن فَوْقِهَا غُرَفٌ مَّبْنِيَّةٌ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُ وَعْدَ ٱللَّهِ لَا يُخْلِفُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْمِيعَادَ
  20. 57:20

    اِعۡلَمُوۡۤا اَنَّمَا الۡحَيٰوةُ الدُّنۡيَا لَعِبٌ وَّلَهۡوٌ وَّزِيۡنَةٌ وَّتَفَاخُرٌۢ بَيۡنَكُمۡ وَتَكَاثُرٌ فِى الۡاَمۡوَالِ وَالۡاَوۡلَادِؕ كَمَثَلِ غَيۡثٍ اَعۡجَبَ الۡكُفَّارَ نَبَاتُهٗ ثُمَّ يَهِيۡجُ فَتَرٰٮهُ مُصۡفَرًّا ثُمَّ يَكُوۡنُ حُطٰمًاؕ وَفِى الۡاٰخِرَةِ عَذَابٌ شَدِيۡدٌۙ وَّمَغۡفِرَةٌ مِّنَ اللّٰهِ وَرِضۡوَانٌؕ وَمَا الۡحَيٰوةُ الدُّنۡيَاۤ اِلَّا مَتَاعُ الۡغُرُوۡرِ ۲۰

    Know that the life of this world is but amusement and diversion and adornment and boasting to one another and competition in increase of wealth and children - like the example of a rain whose [resulting] plant growth pleases the tillers; then it dries and you see it turned yellow; then it becomes [scattered] debris. And in the Hereafter is severe punishment and forgiveness from Allah and approval. And what is the worldly life except the enjoyment of delusion.

  21. 57:21

    سَابِقُوۡۤا اِلٰى مَغۡفِرَةٍ مِّنۡ رَّبِّكُمۡ وَجَنَّةٍ عَرۡضُهَا كَعَرۡضِ السَّمَآءِ وَالۡاَرۡضِۙ اُعِدَّتۡ لِلَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا بِاللّٰهِ وَرُسُلِهٖؕ ذٰلِكَ فَضۡلُ اللّٰهِ يُؤۡتِيۡهِ مَنۡ يَّشَآءُؕ وَاللّٰهُ ذُو الۡفَضۡلِ الۡعَظِيۡمِ ۲۱

    Race toward forgiveness from your Lord and a Garden whose width is like the width of the heavens and earth, prepared for those who believed in Allah and His messengers. That is the bounty of Allah which He gives to whom He wills, and Allah is the possessor of great bounty.

  22. 57:22

    مَاۤ اَصَابَ مِنۡ مُّصِيۡبَةٍ فِى الۡاَرۡضِ وَلَا فِىۡۤ اَنۡفُسِكُمۡ اِلَّا فِىۡ كِتٰبٍ مِّنۡ قَبۡلِ اَنۡ نَّبۡـرَاَهَا ؕ اِنَّ ذٰ لِكَ عَلَى اللّٰهِ يَسِيۡرٌۚۖ ۲۲

    No disaster strikes upon the earth or among yourselves except that it is in a register before We bring it into being - indeed that, for Allah, is easy -

  23. 57:23

    لِّـكَيۡلَا تَاۡسَوۡا عَلٰى مَا فَاتَكُمۡ وَلَا تَفۡرَحُوۡا بِمَاۤ اٰتٰٮكُمۡؕ وَاللّٰهُ لَا يُحِبُّ كُلَّ مُخۡتَالٍ فَخُوۡرِۙ ۲۳

    In order that you not despair over what has eluded you and not exult [in pride] over what He has given you. And Allah does not like everyone self-deluded and boastful -

  24. 57:24

    اۨلَّذِيۡنَ يَبۡخَلُوۡنَ وَيَاۡمُرُوۡنَ النَّاسَ بِالۡبُخۡلِؕ وَمَنۡ يَّتَوَلَّ فَاِنَّ اللّٰهَ هُوَ الۡغَنِىُّ الۡحَمِيۡدُ ۲۴

    [Those] who are stingy and enjoin upon people stinginess. And whoever turns away - then indeed, Allah is the Free of need, the Praiseworthy.

  25. 57:25

    لَـقَدۡ اَرۡسَلۡنَا رُسُلَنَا بِالۡبَيِّنٰتِ وَاَنۡزَلۡنَا مَعَهُمُ الۡكِتٰبَ وَالۡمِيۡزَانَ لِيَقُوۡمَ النَّاسُ بِالۡقِسۡطِۚ وَاَنۡزَلۡنَا الۡحَـدِيۡدَ فِيۡهِ بَاۡسٌ شَدِيۡدٌ وَّمَنَافِعُ لِلنَّاسِ وَلِيَـعۡلَمَ اللّٰهُ مَنۡ يَّنۡصُرُهٗ وَ رُسُلَهٗ بِالۡغَيۡبِ ؕ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ قَوِىٌّ عَزِيۡزٌ ۲۵

    We have already sent Our messengers with clear evidences and sent down with them the Scripture and the balance that the people may maintain [their affairs] in justice. And We sent down iron, wherein is great military might and benefits for the people, and so that Allah may make evident those who support Him and His messengers unseen. Indeed, Allah is Powerful and Exalted in Might.

  26. 57:26

    وَلَقَدۡ اَرۡسَلۡنَا نُوۡحًا وَّ اِبۡرٰهِيۡمَ وَجَعَلۡنَا فِىۡ ذُرِّيَّتِهِمَا النُّبُوَّةَ وَالۡـكِتٰبَ فَمِنۡهُمۡ مُّهۡتَدٍۚ وَكَثِيۡرٌ مِّنۡهُمۡ فٰسِقُوۡنَ ۲۶

    And We have already sent Noah and Abraham and placed in their descendants prophethood and scripture; and among them is he who is guided, but many of them are defiantly disobedient.

  27. 57:27

    ثُمَّ قَفَّيۡنَا عَلٰٓى اٰثَارِهِمۡ بِرُسُلِنَا وَقَفَّيۡنَا بِعِيۡسَى ابۡنِ مَرۡيَمَ وَاٰتَيۡنٰهُ الۡاِنۡجِيۡلَۙ وَجَعَلۡنَا فِىۡ قُلُوۡبِ الَّذِيۡنَ اتَّبَعُوۡهُ رَاۡفَةً وَّرَحۡمَةً ؕ وَرَهۡبَانِيَّةَ اۨبۡتَدَعُوۡهَا مَا كَتَبۡنٰهَا عَلَيۡهِمۡ اِلَّا ابۡتِغَآءَ رِضۡوَانِ اللّٰهِ فَمَا رَعَوۡهَا حَقَّ رِعَايَتِهَاۚ فَاٰتَيۡنَا الَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا مِنۡهُمۡ اَجۡرَهُمۡۚ وَكَثِيۡرٌ مِّنۡهُمۡ فٰسِقُوۡنَ ۲۷

    Then We sent following their footsteps Our messengers and followed [them] with Jesus, the son of Mary, and gave him the Gospel. And We placed in the hearts of those who followed him compassion and mercy and monasticism, which they innovated; We did not prescribe it for them except [that they did so] seeking the approval of Allah. But they did not observe it with due observance. So We gave the ones who believed among them their reward, but many of them are defiantly disobedient.

  28. 57:28

    يٰۤاَيُّهَا الَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوا اتَّقُوا اللّٰهَ وَاٰمِنُوۡا بِرَسُوۡلِهٖ يُؤۡتِكُمۡ كِفۡلَيۡنِ مِنۡ رَّحۡمَتِهٖ وَيَجۡعَلْ لَّـكُمۡ نُوۡرًا تَمۡشُوۡنَ بِهٖ وَيَغۡفِرۡ لَـكُمۡؕ وَاللّٰهُ غَفُوۡرٌ رَّحِيۡمٌۙۚ ۲۸

    O you who have believed, fear Allah and believe in His Messenger; He will [then] give you a double portion of His mercy and make for you a light by which you will walk and forgive you; and Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.

  29. 57:29

    لِّـئَلَّا يَعۡلَمَ اَهۡلُ الۡكِتٰبِ اَلَّا يَقۡدِرُوۡنَ عَلٰى شَىۡءٍ مِّنۡ فَضۡلِ اللّٰهِ وَاَنَّ الۡفَضۡلَ بِيَدِ اللّٰهِ يُؤۡتِيۡهِ مَنۡ يَّشَآءُ ؕ وَاللّٰهُ ذُوۡ الۡفَضۡلِ الۡعَظِيۡمِ ۲۹

    [This is] so that the People of the Scripture may know that they are not able [to obtain] anything from the bounty of Allah and that [all] bounty is in the hand of Allah; He gives it to whom He wills. And Allah is the possessor of great bounty.
