Silent letter — Written but not pronounced — hamzat al-waṣl, the sun-lām, a silent alif
Ghunnah (nasalisation) — Nasal sound on a doubled nūn or mīm, and the nūn-sākin / tanwīn rules (ikhfāʾ, idghām, iqlāb)
Qalqalah (echo) — A slight bounce on qāf, ṭāʾ, bāʾ, jīm or dāl when they carry a sukūn

ﱁﱂﱃ وَٱلسَّمَآءِ وَٱلطَّارِقِ ١
By the sky and the night comer -
Tafsir
-
ﱄﱅﱆﱇﱈ وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلطَّارِقُ ٢
And what can make you know what is the night comer?
Tafsir
-
ﱉﱊﱋ ٱلنَّجْمُ ٱلثَّاقِبُ ٣
It is the piercing star -

-
ﱌﱍﱎﱏﱐﱑﱒ إِن كُلُّ نَفْسٍ لَّمَّا عَلَيْهَا حَافِظٌ ٤
There is no soul but that it has over it a protector.
Tafsir

ﱓﱔﱕﱖﱗ فَلْيَنظُرِ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ مِمَّ خُلِقَ ٥
So let man observe from what he was created.
Tafsir

ﱘﱙﱚﱛﱜ خُلِقَ مِن مَّآءٍ دَافِقٍ ٦
He was created from a fluid, ejected,
Tafsir
-
ﱝﱞﱟﱠﱡﱢ يَخْرُجُ مِنۢ بَيْنِ ٱلصُّلْبِ وَٱلتَّرَآئِبِ ٧
Emerging from between the backbone and the ribs.
Tafsir
-
ﱣﱤﱥﱦﱧ إِنَّهُۥ عَلَىٰ رَجْعِهِۦ لَقَادِرٌ ٨
Indeed, Allah, to return him [to life], is Able.
Tafsir

ﱨﱩﱪﱫ يَوْمَ تُبْلَى ٱلسَّرَآئِرُ ٩
The Day when secrets will be put on trial,
Tafsir

ﱬﱭﱮﱯﱰﱱﱲ فَمَا لَهُۥ مِن قُوَّةٍ وَلَا نَاصِرٍ ١٠
Then man will have no power or any helper.
Tafsir
-
ﱳﱴﱵﱶ وَٱلسَّمَآءِ ذَاتِ ٱلرَّجْعِ ١١
By the sky which returns [rain]
Tafsir

ﱷﱸﱹﱺ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ذَاتِ ٱلصَّدْعِ ١٢
And [by] the earth which cracks open,
Tafsir
-
ﱻﱼﱽﱾ إِنَّهُۥ لَقَوْلٌ فَصْلٌ ١٣
Indeed, the Qur'an is a decisive statement,

ﱿﲀﲁﲂ وَمَا هُوَ بِٱلْهَزْلِ ١٤
Tafsir
-
ﲃﲄﲅﲆ إِنَّهُمْ يَكِيدُونَ كَيْدًا ١٥
Indeed, they are planning a plan,
Tafsir
-
ﲇﲈﲉ وَأَكِيدُ كَيْدًا ١٦
But I am planning a plan.
Tafsir
-
ﲊﲋﲌﲍﲎ فَمَهِّلِ ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ أَمْهِلْهُمْ رُوَيْدًۢا ١٧
So allow time for the disbelievers. Leave them awhile.
